Ordering a custom piece of furniture usually happens in three (3) steps:

STEP 1
The process starts with a discussion of materials, location, purpose, size, design options and budget.  This can be accomplished in person, by phone, email, fax or mail.  Following our discussion, a summary will be prepared with a price quote and estimated schedule.

If you are interested in commissioning an entirely new design, Step 1 would include an additional design phase:

There is a design fee for new work.  This fee is applied to time spent sketching and drafting your project along with supplying full scale mockups and samples that may be necessary.  A rough estimate for the  the anticipated design  costs will be provided.  Upon the completion of the design process you will receive a firm quote for the resulting project and estimated schedule.  The design fee is due upon receipt of the drawings.

Step 2:
Barring any significant changes to the design a signed proposal along with a 50% down payment is sufficient to get started.  Material is selected and/or ordered and the work is scheduled.

Step  3:
During the fabrication period customers are welcome and encouraged to visit the workshop to see the work in progress.  Upon completion the furniture is protected and prepared for delivery.  The final balance, inclusive of any crating and shipping charges, is due prior to shipping.

Shipping
If an item is to be shipped I can furnish a quote for both the crating and shipping costs.  As a rule I do the crating myself.  Shipping quotes are solicited from reputable shippers experienced in transporting artwork and fine furniture.
